In the medical profession, there are many different types of machines that can assist in making an accurate diagnosis. In the case of ultrasound equipment, the physician has the opportunity to see within the body of the patient without ever having to do any type of invasive procedure. This can not only assist in the diagnosis of the problem, it can also give them the opportunity to use these ultrasound machines in a way that will govern what type of treatment is going to be used. Much of this equipment comes in the form of a probe that can be inserted in the body in order to give the doctor an accurate view of what is inside. Some of the more commonly used types of probes include the transvaginal and transrectal ultrasound probes which look into the woman’s vagina or man’s prostate through the rectum respectively. In order to get a look at the heart, a doctor may use a probe known as a transesophageal echocardiogram. This is inserted into the esophagus but ultimately, it is used for images of the heart. Of course, there are many other types of ultrasound equipment that are available, some which are portable and some which are stationary.
